3-13-81 Utica Memorial Auditorium, Utica, N.Y.

This show exists in an excellent audience source for both sets and a badly degraded mono soundboard of the second set. Stick with the audience on this one folks. This Friday night show in Utica opens with a massive Shakedown Street with a rip the roof of the sucker New Minglewood Blues following right on it's heels. The following They Love Each Other->El Paso moves along in a mellow groove. Jack-A-Roe moves at a fun fast clip. Little Red Rooster is good. The last four songs of the first set are all great, starting with a pretty High Time, a killer Cassidy->Althea and a great The Music Never Stopped.

The Cold, Rain and Snow that starts the second set rocks and the following Samson is standard issue '81. It Must Have Been The Roses is nice and the Estimated->Eyes is above average for the time. The Drums during this era is still influenced by the jungle rhythms and less by the more processed sounds that came later. The Space->Lost Sailor->Saint Of Circumstance is very good while Wharf Rat->Sugar Magnolia are good. The same can be said for the Don't Ease Me In encore.
