The first show on Monday features a sound check of Bob Weir's Salt Lake City off of his then current solo album, "Heaven Help The Fool". Promised Land starts off on a rather rocking note followed by a great Brown-Eyed Women. The It's All Over Now that follows is good but just good. Peggy-O finds the energy returning while
Cassidy rocks. the band seems to be in a good mood and cracking jokes with the audience. Dire Wolf is very good and El
Paso is even better, performance wise. Row Jimmy has a nice mellow laid back groove and is well played too. Passenger has great vocals by Bob and Donna while Phil hammers away on his bass.
Candyman has that slow burn and is well above average for the era. The Music Never Stopped rocks the set to a close.
Jack Straw starts where the first set left off and Ship Of Fools is very heartfelt. Dancin' In the Streets->Drums is good but doesn't really stand out either. The Franklin's Tower out of Space is inspired as is the Black Peter that follows on it's heels. Around And Around is as rocking as the U.S. Blues encore.
The Tuesday show is nowhere near as good as Monday but does have some nice moments. Starting off with a good Bertha->Good Lovin' not bad but nothing really noteworthy either. The same can be said for the following Friend Of The Devil. The Me And My Uncle->Big River is okay with the energy picking up during Big River. Tennessee Jed and Looks Like Rain are the first real standouts of the evening. Brown-Eyed Women pales compared to the day before. New
Minglewood Blues and Deal to end the set are very good.
Samson And Delilah is as good as the Tennessee Jed, Looks Like Rain and New
Minglewood Blues in the first set. the Scarlet Begonias-Fire On The Mountain jam is good but there are better out there from this era. Sunrise->Terrapin Station is also nice. Donna has some problems in Sunrise and given that this song isn't a favourite with many, this version won't have anyone changing their opinion. The Drums->
Iko-
Iko->Sugar Magnolia and Johnny B.
Goode encore feel lazy.
